Accommodation

Relax in comfort… all you need from a hotel room

Many of the hotel's period features have been retained in our front facing bedrooms, which overlook the marina and Lews Castle Grounds, so it's worth booking early and requesting one of these - each is very individual.

It's said that Lord Leverhulme used to sit in the oriel window of his room, watching the goings on prior to moving in to the castle.

Rear facing rooms are in more contemporary style, are comfortable and a little quieter than those facing the street at the front - though this small town is rarely noisy!

HS-1 Cafe Bar

Great food, great choice, great value

While HS-1 Cafe Bar, at the Royal Hotel, has youthful ‘attitude,’ it is popular with all ages. It’s not for nothing that our slogan is - you’re welcome.

A stylish, modern, international menu includes a good range of steaks, pasta, wraps, salads, authentic curries and an amazing double burger.

You can see the fishing boats enter the harbour from the Royal - so you'll realise that we're able to offer really fresh fish and shellfish - literally straight off the boat.

Specialities include a pot of fresh mussels with a choice of white wine and garlic cream or tomato and basil sauce - a kilo, plenty for two people, is £8.99 (two kilos - £15.99).

Langoustines from creels (not trawled) and scallops gathered by divers - they just taste so much better.

There are always daily specials to choose from, all at great value prices.

Boatshed Restaurant

Local ingredients served with an artistic flavour

Here at the Boatshed you'll find great tastes, some traditional and some from further afield.

What's common to all our dishes, is that they're arranged in a creative manner that makes looking almost as inetresting as tasting.

On a cool evening, the cosy open fire casts its warmth, while the thick stone walls and floor help keep the restaurant cool on hot summer nights.
