Fiddler’s Bid

BBC ALBA will be broadcasting a special programme from this year’s 30th Shetland Folk Festival. Popular presenter Mary Ann Kennedy will host a special one hour concert featuring the legendary Fiddlers’ Bid from Shetland, as they staged a very special performance live to their home audience to mark the 30th Annual Shetland Folk Festival.
Live shinty with coverage of the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Final

This season’s exclusive live coverage of shinty on BBC ALBA will culminate this Saturday, with coverage of the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Final from The Eilan, Newtonmore.The final will see Glenurquhart take on Lovat in the local derby which will be televised live on BBC ALBA, with a throw-up time scheduled for 4.00pm.
Trusadh/Compelling Stories - Hebridean Motorheads

A gentle look at the Hebridean fascination with all things wheeled, as we meet some of the island characters who are totally obsessed with their vehicles! But why such dedication? In Lewis, Cudaig from Callanish, & Dennis Autos in Bragar, want to do nothing else but fix anything with an engine. Duncan Campbell in North Uist has re-built a classic Jeep using nothing but junk & spare parts he found around the house. Donna Barden from Lewis owns a classic car, and has a very special and emotional reason to restore it to it’s former glory. In South Uist Donnie MacDonald has recently restored a classic MacBrayne’s bus; and on the Isle of Skye, we meet Sandy Morrison who took up rally driving at 60! A programme which will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.
Horo Gheallaidh/Celtic Music Sessions (repeat)

World class musicians from the Celtic Connections festival perform at the Horo Gheallaidh ceilidh session’s. Celtic Connections Sessions/Taghadh den luchd-ciùil bho fhèis Celtic Connections World class musicians from the Celtic Connections festival drop in to give special, intimate performances at the Horo Gheallaidh ceilidh session’s filmed in Glasgow and presented by Sarah Cruickshank. This week, Boston’s Crooked Still, Gaelic singer Margaret Stewart and the John Goldie Band are among the guests. This is a unique opportunity to watch world-class artists up close, performing stripped down versions of their songs live on our sofa in a way you won’t have seen them before.
Rapal TV/Indie Music - The Cinematics

More of the best music in Scotland! Well what else would you expect with a live studio set from the powerful 80s inspired dance rock sound of The Cinematics. There’s a great new video from the band who won Rapal’s latest Gaelic song competition - Niteworks from Skye; and we catch up with Gaelic rock band, Sunrise not Secular, on a special tour as they aim to encourage the next generation of young Gaelic song writers to give it a go!

Botswana, blessed with revenue from diamond mining, has invested in its people, providing free education for all children, over a period of ten years. Professor Donnie Murdo MacLeod has played his part in the education programme, training teachers to work in the most remote parts of the country. Accompanied by the musician and broadcaster, Mary Ann Kennedy, Donnie tours the country assessing the impact of free schooling for all in rural areas.
